iaf 2025: ‘Track to the Future’ – World's leading trade fair for railway technology presents innovations for tomorrow's mobility
(Berlin/Münster, 24 April 2025) It's just four weeks to go: from 20 to 22 May 2025, the International Exhibition for Track Technology (iaf) will open its doors in Münster for the 29th time. Under the motto ‘Track to the Future’, the world's leading trade fair for track technology will once again bring together the most important players in the industry and present forward-looking technologies, machines and solutions for modern track construction and rail maintenance at the Messe und Congress Centrum Halle Münsterland.
Industry meeting place for innovation and exchange
The iaf has established itself as a central platform for innovation and technological exchange. More than 15,000 trade visitors from over 60 countries and more than 180 exhibitors from 16 countries are expected to attend.
Coming from Albersloher Weg, it is hardly visible, but a unique and impressive world opens up: On an exhibition area of 12,000 m², an additional 5,800 m² of outdoor exhibition space and over 3,000 metres of track at the Münster-Ost station of the WLE, visitors can experience the entire spectrum of modern railway technology – from large machines and intelligent software solutions to the latest measurement and analysis methods.
Focus on digitalisation, sustainability and infrastructure
The trade fair will focus on the digitalisation of railway infrastructure, sustainability and CO₂ reduction, securing skilled workers, and the reactivation and expansion of railway lines. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Birgit Milius, President of the organiser, the Association of German Railway Engineers (VDEI), emphasises: ‘With our motto “Track to the Future”, we are focusing on the connection between machine technology and digital solutions in order to further increase efficiency and sustainability in track construction.’
Münster as a proven exhibition location
With its modern exhibition halls and excellently equipped conference rooms, the Messe und Congress Centrum Halle Münsterland offers ideal conditions for the iaf, as the exhibition grounds are located directly on the tracks of the Westfälische Landesbahn (WLE) rail network. In addition, the Messe und Congress Centrum team will once again be providing some of the exhibitor and participant management services for the organiser VDEI in 2025. ‘We look forward to welcoming guests from all over the world and offering them a first-class trade fair experience,’ says Thomas Großmann, authorised representative of the MCC and head of the local iaf team. ’Our goal is to ensure a professional and efficient event for everyone involved.
The economy benefits far beyond the city limits
Specialist consortia from all over the world are coming to Münster, which is causing a noticeable increase in demand for accommodation around the trade fair dates and means that hotels throughout the Münsterland region are fully booked. The trade fair is therefore a major economic factor for the city and the region, as it benefits not only the retail and catering sectors, but also FMO Airport, the taxi industry, the railways and other service providers.
