Successful iaf 2013 – a review

The 26th International Exhibition for Track Technology – iaf took place from 28th to 30th May 2013 in Münster – already for the fourth time after 2003, 2006 and 2009. The increasing number of exhibitors (2013: 208 from 21 countries, 2009: 177 from 15 countries) and the growing international orientation – visitors from 89 countries and all continents – confirms the successful concept of the iaf in Münster. The change to a 4-year rhythm has even increased the attractiveness of the iaf at the location in Münster. Despite a further extension of the exhibition surface in the halls and in the open areas, not all exhibitors who applied could be considered. The areas were completely booked nearly three months before the opening.

The iaf offers professional visitors the full spectrum of track building technologies from complete track and ballast renewal trains to the most delicate computer-based measuring equipment and enables them to receive detailed information.

The patronage of the iaf 2013 had been assumed by the Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Peter Ramsauer and it was a sunny day when he personally attended the iaf opening ceremony. Furthermore the President of VDEI (Association of German Railway Engineers), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Lademann could welcome Dr. Jörg Sandvoß, Board Member for Sales and Timetabling of DB Netz AG and the Lord Mayor of the City of Münster, Markus Lewe.
